Director of Programmes

Can you imagine tackling funeral poverty, making chemotherapy more comfortable, and helping people with dementia enjoy the outdoors, all in a day’s work? What about supporting migrants or those hard of hearing to access information and services, all from the comfort of your own home? Or ensuring children can get the palliative services they need, all while working flexibly in an arrangement that suits you? As our new Director of Programmes at The Lens, you won’t need to imagine.

The Lens is no ordinary social enterprise. Since 2015, we’ve been working with partners across Scotland to nurture ‘intrapreneurship’ inside organisations, capturing the creativity that exists within workforces and changing the lives of the people they serve. Over six years, we’ve built, tested and perfected our model into something that we know works. Now we need you to help us grow it.

As Director of Programmes, you’ll coach and develop our diverse and committed team - but you’ll also benefit from being coached and developed yourself. You’ll design and deliver learning experiences while learning all the time from our team and our partners. And you’ll direct and report on the impact of our programmes, knowing every day that your work is making a difference.

There’s no one path to joining the Lens team. Your colleagues will come from backgrounds as varied as project management, community engagement, pharmaceuticals and police intelligence. And our working week is as varied as our team - you can look forward to a dynamic and fast-paced workplace where no two days are the same and your agenda is always full of excitement.

We’ve been working remotely and flexibly for as long as we’ve existed, and we provide coaching and development for our whole team. As a Lens team member, you’ll change lives without having to compromise on your own. You’ll develop people and ideas, while also being able to develop yourself. And you’ll join us at a key moment, in a role where you’ll be vital in influencing and shaping our future and our growth.

The role is remote with flexible working and quarterly meetings in Glasgow. The Director of Programmes salary range is £47,300 - £53,624 depending on experience.
